Onimusha: Way of the Sword 2026 Release Date

The game launched on September 4, 2026. This is the confirmed, final release date, and it matched what a Canadian retailer had leaked ahead of Capcom's official announcement.

The launch covered PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S simultaneously. The Nintendo Switch 2 version was revealed during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct.

The original release date was September 25, 2026. Capcom then moved the game up three weeks, telling players to get their blades ready earlier.

The change was announced around Capcom Spotlight, following an earlier retailer leak of the September 4 date. Moving dates earlier is something Capcom also did with other 2026 titles.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword was first revealed at The Game Awards in December 2024, ending a long mainline hiatus that dated back to Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in 2006.
